Worship

Sunday worship is the centre of our life as a church community. We gather together to pray, learn, sing, hear and reflect on God’s Word, and to share in fellowship with one another. Communion is at the center of our worship as we gather at the Lord’s Table to share in this holy and sacred meal that Christ has given to us.

Please check the weekly parish update for any special announcements due to COVID protocols.  They can be found in the NEWS section of this website.

All are welcome to attend our worship services. Please dress as you feel most comfortable, and let us know if you are visiting so that we can welcome you and assist you with anything you might need during the service.

Following the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service, St. George has a coffee hour popular with parishioners and newcomers alike, as it provides an opportunity for fellowship.  Unfortunately at this time the event has had to be cancelled due to COVID protocols.  In its place we are having a virtual coffee hour on Zoom about twice a month.  Information on how to join in is available in the weekly parish update in the News section of the website.

The worship space at St. George on Yonge is contemporary. There are chairs that we move into various configurations, depending on the liturgical season of our church year. This allows us to enjoy worship in a flexible design from the more traditional rows to in the round with the altar in the center.  Currently they are set up to allow for physical distancing as per COVID protocols.

Sunday Services

Because of COVID – we are currently having just one service at 10:00.  We will post information here when we return to two Sunday morning services.

8 a.m. Communion

Our early service on Sunday, held in our chapel, is a quiet worship service using traditional language from the Book of Alternative Services.

10:00 a.m. Communion with music and programs for children and youth

We come together to pray, to sing, to learn and to share in the sacrament of Communion. This service uses the more modern liturgies from the Book of Alternative Services. A full range of programs for children and youth is offered during this service.

Currently due to COVID protocols, singing is not allowed.  A soloist will sing the hymns.  Children’s programs are currently being done virtually.  Please see the weekly update in the News section of the website for information on the sessions and how to have your child participate.

On the first Sunday of the month, we offer a ministry of anointing with prayers for healing at both the 8 and 10:30 am services.

Other Worship Services

The ministry team of St. George on Yonge provides worship services for residents at several seniors’ residences in the neighbourhood, including Delmanor and Lansing. For more information, please speak to a member of the ministry team.

During Advent and Lent (the times in our church year leading up to Christmas and Easter) we have weekday Candlelight Communion services in the chapel. They are quiet, meditative and include contemplative music with only candles for light.

Please contact us about baptisms, weddings or funerals. We are happy to journey with you through these important moments in your life.
