“Marriage is a gift of God and a means of God’s grace.”
So reads part of the introduction to the marriage service in the Book of Alternative Services of the Anglican Church of Canada.
If you are planning on being married, congratulations!
Many people wish to affirm that the marriage covenant is a sacred one and that God has a place in their marriage. If this describes you, then we are happy to explore the possibility of a wedding ceremony at St. George on Yonge. The clergy welcome the opportunity to help prepare couples for the sacrament of marriage.
At least one of the couple must be baptized in any Christian tradition. Clergy have authorization to participate in marriage services that are held at locations other than the church. Sixty days’ notice is normally required for couples to undertake preparation in the form of a weekend educational program and meetings with the Priest. Please contact the parish office to make an appointment, or speak to a member of the ministry team.
At this time, Anglican clergy in Canada are permitted to preside at the marriage of opposite-gender couples only. If you are a same-gender couple, please speak to the clergy about the possibility of a service of thanksgiving for your union, in place of a marriage or blessing service.
